The United Steelworkers (USW) announced a successful ratification of a six-year collective bargaining agreement with Allegheny Technologies Inc. (ATI). The members at ATI endorsed the new contract, which includes significant wage hikes, a ratification bonus, and enhanced time-off benefits.
The agreement guarantees a 26% wage increase over its term, starting with a 6% raise in the first year. Additionally, the union members will receive a $3,000 ratification bonus. An improved vacation schedule allowing quicker accrual of paid time off and an extra paid holiday are also part of the contract.
“This agreement reflects the power of solidarity,” stated USW District 10 Director Bernie Hall. “Our members stood together and demanded a fair contract that recognizes their hard work and dedication. Because of their unity and determination, we were able to achieve meaningful improvements that will benefit our members and their families.”
The USW represents over 1,200 workers at ATI facilities involved in the new agreement. The negotiation process began earlier this year and concluded with a tentative agreement earlier this month.
“Our members at ATI showed incredible strength and solidarity throughout this process,” Hall added. “This contract is a testament to what we can achieve when we fight together for fairness.”
The USW represents 850,000 workers across various industries, including manufacturing, metals, mining, chemicals, and more, as well as a growing number of workers in tech, public sector, and service occupations.
