Today, the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) delivered a statement in response to President Trump’s executive order ending collective bargaining with several federal unions. UFCW International, which represents 1.2 million workers across essential sectors in North America, opposed the executive order’s implications.

Marc Perrone, UFCW International President, voiced concerns saying, “Collective bargaining is a fundamental right that ensures workers have safe workplaces, a voice on the job, and the ability to provide for their families. This executive order undermines those rights for hundreds of thousands of federal workers who have dedicated their careers to serving the American people.”

Perrone warned of broader implications, stating, “Weakening collective bargaining does not just hurt federal workers—it sets a dangerous and chilling precedent for all workers. At a time when too many families are struggling to make ends meet, we should be strengthening worker protections, not taking them away.”

Perrone added, “The UFCW offers its full support for federal workers and their right to negotiate contracts that protect them on the job.”

The UFCW International stands as the largest private-sector union in the United States and also represents workers in Canada and Puerto Rico. The union’s members work across a diverse range of industries such as meatpacking, food processing, grocery, healthcare, cannabis, and retail.
