A first-grade teacher from Hawaiʻi Island has developed a unique resource for elementary education. Jess Sobocinski, who teaches at Hōnaunau Elementary School, has compiled a “K-5 social justice bibliography.” This curated book list is designed to be inclusive and culturally relevant to Hawaiʻi while also focusing on themes of social justice.

Sobocinski describes the bibliography as a “work in progress” and currently includes approximately 145 titles. The initiative aims to provide educators with materials that reflect diverse perspectives and promote understanding of social justice issues among young students.

The development of this bibliography represents an effort to enhance educational resources by integrating cultural relevance and inclusivity into early childhood education.
