The American Postal Workers Union (APWU) has announced the processing of the second payment of a $15 million settlement for Part-time Regular (PTR) workers. This follows the first round of payments, with an additional $750,000 reserved to address any missed cases from the initial distribution.

According to APWU, “The second and final payments have now started processing,” using the same criteria as before. The payment amounts will vary between $965 and $50. It is important to note that some employees may not qualify for a second payment due to individual circumstances.

For PTRs seeking conversion to full-time positions, specific criteria have been outlined. Eligible PTRs are those who consistently work 28 to 30 hours per week. These individuals can be converted in place at their current office with expanded hours while maintaining their days off. Additionally, they may request conversion to a Full-time Custodian or Building Maintenance Custodian position upon successful completion of the Bulk Mail Center (BMC) test.

In collaboration with the United States Postal Service (USPS), APWU has selected 50 employees nationwide for promotion. Each selected employee will receive an offer letter from USPS providing them with the option to become full-time employees. Employees have the right to decline this conversion in writing if they choose not to pursue it. Should there be fewer than 50 PTRs accepting conversion, selections will be made from other locations.

For further inquiries regarding full-time conversion, interested parties can contact the Maintenance Division via [email protected].
