RWDSU endorses Mikie Sherrill for New Jersey governor

The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) has officially endorsed Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill in her bid for Governor of New Jersey. The announcement highlights the union’s support from its members across various sectors including grocery, retail, warehousing, healthcare, manufacturing, transport, and public service.

Stuart Appelbaum, President of RWDSU, stated that “Mikie Sherrill is the kind of principled leader working people need in New Jersey.” He emphasized her record in Congress supporting union rights and public services as evidence of her commitment to workers’ needs. Appelbaum expressed confidence that Sherrill would continue to advocate for economic and worker justice if elected Governor.

Charles N. Hall Jr., President of RWDSU Local 108, remarked on the essential role played by their members during the pandemic. He noted that “Mikie Sherrill gets it” and trusts she will continue to stand with workers in Trenton as she has done in Washington.

Daniel Righetti, President of RWDSU Local 262, praised Sherrill’s accessibility to labor issues and advocacy for workplace safety and fair wages. He believes she will fight for union jobs and safe workplaces as Governor.

Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill expressed gratitude for the endorsement from RWDSU. She acknowledged the critical contributions of RWDSU members to New Jersey’s economy and pledged to work towards a state where every worker is respected and empowered.

The RWDSU represents 100,000 members nationwide and is affiliated with the United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW).
