Pay table changes implemented; back pay scheduled for August

The Postal Service has notified the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) that changes to the pay table, specifically the removal of Table 2 Steps AA and A, were completed and implemented on July 12, 2025. As a result, all city carriers previously in those steps have been moved to Step B. They will now undergo a new 46-week waiting period before advancing to the next step.

Additionally, USPS has confirmed that back-pay calculations are still underway. Payments are expected to be included in the August 29 paycheck. The retroactive pay will cover general wage increases from November 18, 2023, and November 16, 2024. It also includes an additional one percent increase for city carrier assistants on those dates and the first four cost-of-living adjustments for career carriers.
