OPEIU has recognized the contributions of veterans in the workforce on Veterans Day. According to the union, there are 1.6 million veterans who are members of unions in the United States. In some states, more than a quarter of working veterans belong to a union.
Many of these veterans participate in the AFL-CIO’s Union Veterans Council, which works to support the economic interests of veterans through union membership.
“Veterans play an integral role at every level of the labor movement and we are proud to honor them this Veterans Day,” OPEIU stated.
The organization highlighted its ongoing commitment to supporting veterans within its ranks and across the broader labor movement.
