NFLPA appoints Liz Allen as chief external affairs officer

The NFL Players Association has announced the appointment of Liz Allen as its new Chief External Affairs Officer. Allen will focus on leading the union’s communications and public affairs efforts, with the goal of effectively representing the priorities of NFL players to football stakeholders. Her role will also involve enhancing advocacy and increasing awareness of the union’s objectives.

“Strong communication is critical to serving our player membership, and bringing Liz on board reflects our commitment to building a more resilient and strategic union,” stated Lloyd Howell, Executive Director of the NFLPA. “As we navigate the rapid pace of change in our sport, her experience will help us elevate our members’ voices and clearly convey their priorities, driving a more player-centric future for the NFL.”

Liz Allen joins the NFLPA with over 20 years of experience in communications and public policy. Her career includes advising U.S. Presidents, Cabinet Secretaries, and CEOs. Prior to this role, she was the Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, managing global sports diplomacy for the U.S. government. Her background also includes serving as Deputy White House Communications Director and Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs, leading messaging on national security and foreign policy issues.
