A dozen employees at the Jewish Museum of Maryland have opted to join Teamsters Local 355. This decision was made unanimously by workers across all departments, driven by the desire for improved job security and union protections.
Mark Garey, President of Local 355, stated, “We are looking forward to representing our newest members. This shows that workers in all crafts and classes are seeking the benefits and protections of a strong Teamsters contract.”
This move aligns the Jewish Museum of Maryland’s workers with others in similar institutions within the state who have also chosen to unionize. Employees from the Glenstone Museum in Potomac joined the Teamsters in June 2024, and workers from the Baltimore Museum of Industry followed suit in January 2025.
Noah Mitchel, Performance and Events Manager for the Jewish Museum, remarked, “The Teamsters have a history of being strong and active in Baltimore. Even though we are a small workplace, we are thrilled that this powerful union is going to bat for us.”
Teamsters Local 355 represents over 5,000 men and women throughout Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware, covering sectors both public and private. This includes workers at UPS, DHL, BWI Airport, and multiple delivery services across different industries. Additional information about the union is available at Teamsters355.com.
