Illinois Education Association honors four outstanding educators from Region 45

The Illinois Education Association (IEA) Region 45 has recognized several educators from Collinsville and Edwardsville for their exceptional dedication to their educational institutions and communities. The awardees were selected by their peers for their contributions both in and out of the classroom.

Jill Dupy, Chair of IEA Region 45, commented on the significance of these educators’ work: “These educators stand out for not only the work they are doing inside the classroom or on campus, but also the care and dedication they pour into the community. They have made a positive impact on so many students and coworkers. Congratulations to all our awardees!”

The 2025 recipients include Linda Arnold, an education assistant at Collinsville High School. Arnold is noted for her leadership within both her school and union, fostering a collaborative environment and mentoring new assistants.

Toni Geisen, a social studies teacher at Collinsville High School, was also honored. She co-founded KAHOKstrong, an organization providing support to community members in need. KAHOKstrong has offered over $100,000 in assistance since its inception.

Ed Navarre, a professor of analytical chemistry at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), was recognized for his advocacy work as past president of SIUE Faculty Association. He has been instrumental in promoting academic freedom and safety on campus.

Warren Richards, an economics professor at SIUE, received accolades for his teaching excellence and community involvement. Richards actively engages with local government on infrastructure projects while maintaining high standards in his teaching role.
