The Idaho Education Association (IEA) has announced a special election to fill the Board of Directors seat for Region 8. This election will begin later this month, with participation limited to members within IEA’s Region 8.

The election process is scheduled throughout July. Nominations will open on Monday, June 30, and close on Monday, July 14. The voting period will commence on Wednesday, July 23, during which eligible members will receive electronic voting credentials via their personal email and SMS text messages sent to the cell phone numbers registered with IEA. The election will conclude at 5 p.m. MDT on Thursday, July 31. Candidates are expected to be notified of the results by Friday, August 1.

This election is significant as it determines who will lead the union’s efforts in Region 8, an area that encompasses the western part of Treasure Valley—one of Idaho’s most populous and rapidly growing regions. The need for this special election arose following the resignation of longtime board member Alicia Purdy.
