Voters in Idaho have until October 24 to request absentee ballots for the upcoming November 4 election. The Idaho Education Association (IEA) is encouraging its members and the wider community to participate, highlighting the importance of voting on education-related issues.
This week, IEA members will receive postcards that provide step-by-step instructions on how to request an absentee ballot. According to the organization, school board, bond, and levy elections are included on the November ballots.
In recent years, some measures have failed by fewer than 100 votes. Only 37% of IEA members voted in May 2024, and increased participation could have changed outcomes in key races. The IEA emphasizes that every ballot cast can impact public schools.
Key deadlines include requesting a ballot by 5 p.m. Mountain Time on October 24 and submitting completed ballots to county clerks by mail or in person by 8 p.m. Mountain Time on November 4.
The upcoming election will be the first since the launch of the IEA’s May Matters initiative, which aims to restore a pro-public education majority in the Idaho Legislature.
