Hawaiʻi DOE extends teacher shortage differentials through 2025-26

The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education (HIDOE) has announced that shortage differentials for classroom teachers in special education, hard-to-staff locations, and Hawaiian language immersion programs will be extended through the school year 2025–26.

According to a memo dated May 22, the HIDOE stated that these differentials will range from $3,000 to $10,000 annually.

This decision aims to address ongoing teacher shortages in specific areas and ensure that students continue to receive quality education despite staffing challenges.
