Carhaul drivers employed by Hansen Adkins in Kansas City, Missouri, have voted to join Teamsters Local 41. This move will add the newly organized workers to the ranks of thousands of Teamsters carhaulers nationwide who are covered under the National Master Automobile Transporters Agreement (NMATA).

Avral Thompson, Director of the Teamsters Carhaul Division, commented on the development: “We are continuing to grow our strength and expand our power across the carhaul industry. These drivers chose to organize because they know the only path to better wages, stronger benefits, and safer working conditions is through a Teamsters contract.”

The NMATA is scheduled to expire on August 31. The union has stated that it is preparing for negotiations aimed at securing improved pay, benefits, and protections for all members covered by the agreement.

Bret Rust, a driver at Hansen Adkins and new member of Local 41, said: “We’re proud to be Teamsters and excited to be part of the strength that comes with the NMATA. Being part of the strongest union in North America means real job security and a better future for all of us.”

Joseph Monslow, President of Local 41, also welcomed the new members: “I’m proud to welcome these hardworking drivers to Local 41 and look forward to representing them as we fight for a powerful new national contract. Growing our density in the carhaul industry is key to maintaining the strong standards Teamsters have built over generations.”

Teamsters Local 41 represents thousands of workers from various industries in Kansas City. More information about their activities can be found at www.teamsters41.org.
