The National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation has launched a campaign offering free legal aid to hotel workers. Initiated in response to alleged abuse by UNITE HERE officials, this campaign features a mini-documentary, “The Reality of Union Bullying by UNITE HERE,” which highlights issues of deceptive practices and intimidation faced by workers.

Erika, a hotel worker from San Francisco, shared her experience: “They’re supposed to protect us, but they just take our money and our voice.” Maria, a worker from a Chicago Hilton, echoed these concerns, recounting similar experiences of intimidation. The video showcasing these stories has gained significant attention, with over a million views.

Maria hopes the campaign will inspire others to stand against what she describes as bullying from the union. “My message to other hotel employees is: Don’t let UNITE HERE bully you. The National Right to Work Foundation helped me stand up for my rights and they can help you too,” Maria stated.

Foundation staff have been involved in assisting hospitality workers in various locations including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Washington, D.C., and Boston. These efforts have been aimed at supporting housekeepers, concierges, foodservice staff, and other hotel employees.

Foundation President Mark Mix commented on the situation, stating, “UNITE HERE officials have engaged in practices that undermine the very workforce they claim to want to protect.” He continued, praising the courage of workers like Maria and Erika in standing up to intimidation.

Mix assured that resources are available for those in need. “Foundation staff attorneys are prepared to assist any hotel employees facing UNITE HERE’s abusive tactics,” Mix added.

Additional information about the legal aid available can be accessed at hotelworkersrights.com. The complete video is also available for viewing.
