Eileen Ho, Human Resources Manager at Flying Food Group (FFG), said that their negotiations team has attempted to “bargain in good faith” with the Teamsters, but all efforts have been rejected. She provided her statement to the Labor Union Reporter.
“Flying Food Group’s negotiations team has met in person and remotely with Teamsters Local 2785 numerous times over the past two years to bargain in good faith,” said Ho, HR Manager. “Our most recent proposal included raises and quality healthcare. All of these proposals were rejected by the Teamsters. Our drivers should know that any threats to blackball them from the industry if they cross the picket line are illegal.”
According to the Militant, 40 drivers and three assistants at Flying Food Group entered their second week of striking on April 7, demanding better wages, improved healthcare, and retroactive pay. Represented by Teamsters Local 2785, the workers have received support from fellow unions such as UNITE HERE Local 2 and the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA. Picketing continues around the clock at the company’s kitchen in South San Francisco.
Flying Food Group has filed an Unfair Labor Practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board. The company accuses Teamsters Local 2785 of violating federal labor law under Section 8(b) of the National Labor Relations Act. The complaint, submitted in April, alleges that the union engaged in conduct interfering with the company’s rights or obligations under the Act.
The Unfair Labor Practice document states: “Beginning on or around March 29, 2025, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 2785 (the ‘Union’) has restrained and coerced employees of Flying Food Group in the exercise of their rights under Section 7 of the Act through violence or threats of violence, including exposing employees to physical harm and creating unsafe work conditions. The Union has also threatened to take legal action against employees, provided false information to employees, and threatened to ‘blackball’ employees, in an attempt to prevent employees from exercising their rights under section 7 of the Act.”
