A group of 15 emergency medical professionals from Sturgis, South Dakota, including paramedics and EMTs, has voted to unionize with Teamsters Local 120. The decision aims to secure fair compensation and a voice in their working conditions.

“We’re proud and excited to officially become Teamsters,” stated Casey Baker, a paramedic and new member of Local 120. “Standing together with Local 120, we’re ready to negotiate a strong first contract. We know we’re backed by the strongest labor union in the country — and we’re just getting started.”

The newly unionized members sought representation to ensure strong advocacy in their workplace, aligning with Local 120’s strength. James Heeren, a business agent with Local 120, expressed enthusiasm: “It’s an honor to welcome these hardworking men and women to our union. Emergency health providers do some of the toughest and most important work in America, and I know they will bring that same energy as we work together to bargain a lucrative first contract.”

Teamsters Local 120 represents over 15,000 workers across several states including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota. For additional information, individuals can visit local120.org.
