Branch officers training set for September in Boston

NALC Secretary-Treasurer Nicole Rhine has announced a Branch Officers Training scheduled for September 15-18, 2025, in Boston, MA.

The training sessions will span three and a half days and are designed to help branch presidents, vice presidents, treasurers, recording secretaries, financial secretaries, and trustees perform their duties more effectively.

Topics covered will include the basics for financial officers such as reporting to the Department of Labor, fiduciary duties under the Landrum-Griffin Act, bonding of branch officers, and IRS reporting requirements.

Additional subjects include the NALC Constitution and branch bylaws, branch operations and policies, maintaining meeting minutes accurately and completely, member notification requirements, record keeping, branch elections, branch dues, and understanding a dues roster.

The registration form for this training will be available in the next NALC Bulletin. Branches and State Associations must use this form to register for the class.

Attendees are advised not to book airline tickets until they receive an acceptance letter due to limited space. For budgeting purposes, the daily room rate is $299 single/double plus tax.
