The American Postal Workers Union (APWU) and the U.S. Postal Service have reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year Collective Bargaining Agreement, according to an announcement by APWU President and Lead Negotiator Mark Dimondstein. The contract covers the period from September 21, 2024, to September 20, 2027.
The agreement was finalized on June 2, 2025, and subsequently presented to the Rank and File Bargaining Advisory Committee on June 4, where it received unanimous approval for a ratification vote. The National Negotiating Committee and the National Executive Board fully support the tentative agreement.
“This is great news for postal workers! Negotiations are never easy and have been hard fought. We have secured an agreement that continues to protect the rights and interests of our members in uncertain times,” said APWU President Mark Dimondstein. He emphasized that despite challenges such as potential postal privatization, the agreement includes annual wage increases, cost-of-living adjustments for career employees, no-layoff protections, limits on excessing distances, changes in pay scales, increased uniform allowances, and more. “A ‘Yes’ vote will secure the provisions and advances of the Tentative Agreement.”
Dimondstein expressed gratitude towards the Rank and File Bargaining Advisory Committee and all officers involved in negotiations. “On behalf of our members, I appreciate the hard work and diligence of the Rank and File Bargaining Advisory Committee,” he stated.
Industrial Relations Director Charlie Cash added his support: “I am excited that the membership will have the opportunity to vote yes on this tentative agreement…”
The APWU is preparing to mail ballots to its members by June 16 with a return deadline set for July 10. The union encourages all members to participate in voting as it affects their wages, benefits, and working conditions.
