Amazon drivers at the DAX5 delivery station in City of Industry, California, have taken action to demand a union contract and better working conditions. Ivan Alatorre, an Amazon driver at DAX5, expressed frustration with being removed from the schedule without notice and described overwhelming workloads. He stated, “We are part of a nationwide movement of Amazon Teamsters fighting for the good jobs we deserve.”

The drivers work at Amazon’s METRO Delivery Service Partner (DSP) and join others from two additional DSPs at DAX5 and nine other Amazon facilities across the country who have organized with the Teamsters Union. In December, a significant strike led by Amazon Teamsters marked a historic moment for the company.

Randy Korgan, Director of the Teamsters Amazon Division, emphasized their commitment to maintaining industry standards: “Generations of Teamsters organized and went on strike so that every driver and warehouse worker would have decent wages and protections.”

Nearly 10,000 Amazon workers have joined forces with the Teamsters recently. Through various forms of protest including strikes and picket lines, they have secured raises and opposed policies deemed harmful by employees.

Aiden Karcher, another Amazon Teamster at DAX5, criticized the corporation’s lack of basic provisions for workers: “A trillion-dollar corporation should be able to provide us with enough uniforms for the workweek.” He called for more workers to join their cause.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters was founded in 1903 and represents 1.3 million people in North America. More information is available on their website or social media platforms.
