The AFSA Resolutions Committee has opened submissions for policy resolutions ahead of the 17th Triennial Constitutional Convention. The event is scheduled to occur from July 24-27, 2025, in Las Vegas. Interested parties have until April 16, 2025, to submit their resolutions.
The convention presents a platform for AFSA members to influence the union’s future direction by proposing resolutions that tackle significant issues impacting school leaders, local unions, and their communities. These resolutions will shape AFSA’s priorities and actions moving forward.
Each resolution submitted will be reviewed by the AFSA Resolutions Committee. Approved proposals will advance to the General Executive Board (GEB) for final consideration. Those sanctioned by the GEB will be put forth for adoption during the convention.
From the previous convention in 2022, four resolutions have been suggested for continuation by AFSA Officers and the GEB. These are:
– Threats and Assaults Against School Supervisors and Administrators
– Building Worker Power to Enhance Organizing
– School Leader Wellness Support
– Enhancing School Safety / Stopping Gun Violence
Resolutions should be sent to [email protected] for evaluation by the committee.
This submission process plays a crucial role in ensuring that AFSA’s policies align with the changing needs and priorities of school leaders nationwide.
